Mather x PRATT SOD Collaboration

Collaborating closely with students, faculty, & staff from Stephen T Mather Building Arts and Craftsmanship High School, the Pratt SoD x Mather Co-Design studio is set to transform the Mather Governor's Island Annex into a versatile Maker-Space, complete with workshop, open studio, and educational area.

Welcome to the Stephen T. Mather Building Arts and Craftsmanship High School website. Founded in 2013 in partnership with the National Park Service, our school offers college prep courses as well as career and technical education courses with a focus on historic preservation. Our site is here to provide students, families, and our school community with easy access to all things Mather.

Mather High School is a great place to teach and learn! Our staff is committed to a high quality learning experience focused on the individual needs of each child. We strive to sustain a strong school culture built upon the foundation of excellence in academics, work-based learning, social & emotional support, extracurricular activities, and equitable teaching practices. 

Mather High School, located in Midtown Manhattan in the heart of New York City, serves approximately 400 students from all five (5) NYC boroughs. As a school community, we are committed to our mission of offering multiple post-secondary pathways and preparing students to be productive citizens and life-long learners in an ever changing world.

Our Mission

Stephen T. Mather Building Arts & Craftsmanship High School, through hands-on learning opportunities and skills-training, prepares you for both college, and career paths in the building and landscaping trades, with emphases on high-quality craftsmanship, the specialized building arts and the practices of historic preservation.

Our Vision

Stephen T. Mather Building Arts & Craftsmanship High School (Mather HS) strives to redefine Career and Technical Education (CTE) for the 21st Century.  Through our unique partnership with the National Park Service (NPS), and myriad others, we are able to offer real, hands-on education in the building and landscaping trades, with an emphasis on high-quality craftsmanship and the specialized building arts, while also providing you with a solid college- and career-ready foundation integrated with the trades and aligned with the Common Core Standards.
